Looking for White Corn

February 8, 2010

Hi,

I’m interested in growing some white corn to display at our local Show but can’t find any.  The varieties I’m looking for are Hickory King or Manning White. I only need a few grams of seed as this is display only.  Hoping you maybe able to help or know someone who can.
Regards,

Barbara

    Hi,

I’m not sure when your local show is on, but I’m currently in the throes of growing some Manning White at the moment. So far, it’s grown to about 6′ and, if I can keep the water up to it, it should have some nice cobs at some stage, though nothing is really appearing yet.

You’d be welcome to some if you so desire.

    Cheers

Michael, I have been trying to find a few seeds of manning white to grow my own as I like green maize to eat as a vegetable in preference to sweet corn.
I would love to have a few kernels from you if possible.
This season I was given some old seed that failed to germinate and I was very dissappointed, would love to try next season.

    Ken,

I have some spare seed that germinated very well this season. Though it’s too late to plant and grow them no I suspect, you’d be more than welcome to some if you wish.

    Michael
