Sources of Seed

March 18, 2010

Hay COGS,

I’ve just developed a touch of a green thumb but am just getting starting in my gardening life. It is my dream to eventually own my own self-sufficient farm when I’m older (I’m only 19). I have little money for seeds and want to get good organic seeds. But as I have no seeds to trade, so what is the best way to get my hands on some good cheap seeds?

Sam

A good way to start out would be to take plant cuttings to propagate or to use a plant that can be divided like rhubarb or garlic.

You could buy a single packet of non-hybrid seeds and then collect the seeds from the mature plant. That way you have a free supply of seeds.

It takes a while, but you can start small and scale up over time.
