Ivy
Hello,
Our garden is overrun with ivy. After pulling it out, is it OK to use it as mulch? I have heard that this is not advisable as the ivy will re-root in the mulched areas. Can anyone help me with this, please? Thanks in advance.

A group is being formed which will be trialling soft berry fruit not normally found in Australia. The trial is being organised by the CSIRO Discovery Centre in conjunction with National Science Week. If you want to participate in this trial or for more information please see the Permablitz Berryblitz notice on the events listing on the COGS home page .
Hi,
I have access to a plentiful supply of Hessian Coffee sacks which I use to cover my compost bin. Lately I’ve been experimenting in composting the sacks themselves. I’ve been trying to find out what the approximate Carbon to Nitrogen ratio of Hessian is.
Best wishes,
Mike
Hello,
We have noticed the new leaves on our citrus trees (orange, lemon, mandarin) are curled up and not looking too good, so we have pruned some of them back. Can anyone offer some advice as to what nutrients may be needed?
Thank you,
Lucienne
Hello,
Does anyone know where I can get a chemical analysis of my soil performed in the Canberra region?
I am a gardener in Wamboin. Some of my veggies grow well (the Nightshade group); and others don’t (my brussels appear to have stalled).
Many thanks,
Vincent
Hi All,
I’m thinking of planting some currants this year and wondered, with the choice available, does anyone have a preference for red, white or black and why? I’ll probably only have room for one so I’m curious to know what people think.
Thanks,
Ray
Hi Everyone,
We have recently purchased a greenhouse and would like to know if anyone
can point us to a good Australian reference book/website for greenhouse
growing. Most titles we have found are based in England.
Thanks heaps in advance,
Rebecca

The catch on my mulcher needs fixing. Bought it from Bunnings few yrs back and they no longer stock this brand and couldn’t help me with where to have it repaired. Cany anyone tell me where to go? I have masses of prunings ‘waiting’.
Thanks,
Jyoti
What a lovely Autumn afternoon this is! I’m taking a break from the gardening to post a question about figs…does anyone have any they are prepared to share? I am looking for some to turn into jam for my Nan who remembers it fondly from her childhood. She’s 80 this year and worth spoiling, but I don’t have a tree to grab them from. I will happily pass back a bottle of the jam to whoever supplies the fruit!
I also have a worm farm (with no worms in it) that is in good condition and needs a new home. We sadly cannot make worm farms work in spite of all of our best efforts, and will stick to the compost and bokashi methods to create the good stuff. I’m happy to give it to a new home, but if you have something to trade (like some figs!) even better.
Cheers,
Ray
