COGS Meeting 27 April – change of speaker

April 23, 2010

Please note the change of speaker for the COGS meeting of 27 April.  The speaker will now be  John Feehan.  He will be speaking about Dung Beetles, past, present and future (see COGS Home page).  These insects play a crucial role in recycling soil nutrients.  They also make it possible for us to be able to eat outdoors in Canberra without being carried away by flies.  John is a recognised authority on Dung Beetles both in Australia and internationally.  He worked on the CSIRO Dung Beetle Program for 31 years. On its conclusion John formed a private company SOILCAM and continues researching, collecting and releasing suitable Dung Beetles species into grazing regions across Australia and internationally.

This will be an interesting talk on an important topic for all those concerned about soil fertility and our future food security.  Non- COGS members are most welcome to attend.
